There are seasons when it feels as though the waters are rising all around us. Unexpected diagnoses. Broken relationships. Financial uncertainty. Grief that lingers longer than we imagined. In those moments, we often pray for God to remove the storm.

Yet Isaiah offers a different promise. God never says we will never pass through deep waters. He says that when we do, He will be with us.

As I looked across this quiet pond, the white lily rested peacefully among the dark water, untouched by the uncertainty beneath it. Its beauty wasn't found because the water disappeared. It flourished in the very place where it had been planted. That image has stayed with me. Faith does not always remove us from difficult circumstances. More often, it anchors us within them. God's presence is not dependent on peaceful seasons. He is just as near in the valley as He is on the mountaintop. His promises remain just as true in our questions as they are in our victories.

The waters may feel deep. The current may feel strong. But we never face them alone. The same God who calls us into the water also walks beside us through it. His presence is greater than every fear. His faithfulness is deeper than every trial. And His hand has never once let go.
