The World War II Memorial honors a generation that willingly sacrificed comfort, security, and, for many, life itself to preserve freedom. Standing before its fountains at sunrise, I was struck by the symbolism of flowing water. Every stream rises only because it is continually supplied. The moment its source is removed, it falls silent. Nations are no different.

History tells the stories of powerful kingdoms that seemed unshakable, yet every one eventually faded. Wealth, military strength, and human achievement alone have never been enough to sustain a people. Scripture points us to a different foundation.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."

This verse is not a promise of automatic prosperity because of a flag or a form of government. It is a reminder that lasting blessing flows from a people who seek God's wisdom, pursue His righteousness, and acknowledge Him as the true source of every good gift.

As I watched the morning light reflect across the water, I found myself praying—not only with gratitude for those who secured the freedoms we enjoy today, but also for the generations who will inherit them. May we never assume freedom is guaranteed. May we steward it wisely. May we seek justice with humility, lead with integrity, and remember that the greatest hope of any nation is not found in its monuments, armies, or achievements, but in hearts that continually turn toward God. The fountains will one day fall silent. Kingdoms will rise and fall. But the Lord remains faithful forever.
